Individual Meetings / Student Assessment Studies.
Individual counseling involves the process of collaboratively resolving any life issues that challenge the individual. Through individual counseling, efforts are made to enhance the student's ability to cope with difficult personal, social, and academic conditions.
The aim of individual counseling is to increase self-awareness, facilitate a better understanding of oneself and experiences, and broaden perspectives on potential solutions.
The Counseling Unit requires appointments to be made for individual counseling sessions, which typically last around 45 minutes. The timing, frequency, and duration of sessions are decided in collaboration with the student. The effectiveness of the sessions relies on the student's consistent participation and appropriate interventions being made.
Sessions can be conducted in person, online, or a combination of both, depending on the needs.
Some examples of topics covered in individual counseling sessions, tailored to the cognitive, emotional, and social development of students according to their age groups, include:
"I want to use my time effectively."
"I often feel unhappy."
"I feel like I can't express myself well enough."
"I work hard, but I'm not getting the results I want."
"I want to manage my exam anxiety."
"What should I do to increase my
self-confidence?"
"No matter how much I try, I feel like my family doesn't understand me."
"I'm having difficulty managing my friendships."
"Overthinking is negatively impacting my life."
"What should I do to get to know myself better?"
"What professions could be most suitable for my talents, interests, and goals?"
"How can I prepare for my career journey?"
